Kath's Plan
Here are my priorities if elected, they are rooted in what I've heard from the community. This isn't about what I want, it's about what we want.
As your endorsed community candidate, I am free to assess policies on their merits and am not bound by party lines or restricted by party loyalty or agendas. As an established professional, I am not trying to climb the political ladder or secure favours, so I have the freedom from, and am not influenced by, vested interests or lobbyists.
I am pro-community, pro-engagement, and pro-participation.
My agenda is your agenda. My goal is to get the best for our local Chisholm community and for the nation as a whole. This means a healthy, equitable, safe, sustainable, and prosperous future for all, and a fairer society that respects human dignity and the wellbeing of all its citizens.
In developing and delivering policy, I am driven by principles and process.
RENEWABLE ENERGY
I’m committed to accelerating Australia’s renewable energy transition, aiming for 82% renewable energy by 2030. I’ll push to decarbonise, remove fossil fuels, and stop the use of “junk” carbon offsets.
I support empowering communities through local renewable projects and investing in grid infrastructure to handle more clean energy. This transition will not only help reduce emissions but also save money for households, businesses, and industries while ensuring a sustainable future.
CLIMATE ACTION
I’m committed to taking stronger action on climate change to reduce its devastating impact on our homes, health, and economy. My goal is to cut emissions by 75% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2035, across all sectors.
This includes stopping new coal and gas projects, eliminating fossil fuel subsidies, and transitioning to renewable energy backed by battery storage. I’ll push for energy-efficient policies, promote electric vehicles, and support electrifying homes and industry. It’s time to better protect Australia from the growing effects of climate change while creating a cleaner, more sustainable future.
ENVIRONMENT & NATURE
Our national environmental law, the EPBC Act, is failing to protect our unique natural environment. I’m committed to revitalising this law as a priority, including a “Climate Trigger” to address the urgent threats of habitat loss, invasive species, and climate change.
I’ll push for a national Environment Protection Agency with the power to enforce penalties, ensure climate and environmental impacts are considered in all new projects, and impose a moratorium on seismic blasting. I’ll also advocate for full transparency on emissions and take a holistic approach to protect nature while scaling up renewable energy.
COST OF LIVING
The rising cost of living is placing immense pressure on households across Chisholm. I am committed to practical solutions that ease financial stress, ensure fair wages, and improve access to essential services. By advocating for housing affordability, cheaper energy, better public transport, and cost relief for families, I will work towards a future where everyone in Chisholm can thrive.
RESTORING TRUST IN POLITICS
Trust in politics has been eroded by scandals, broken promises, and a lack of accountability. I believe in transparency, honesty, and real accountability in government.
I will push for stronger anti-corruption measures, political donation reform, and a more open and responsible democracy that truly represents the people of Chisholm.
HOUSING AFFORDABILITY
Housing affordability is one of the biggest challenges facing Chisholm. Rising rents and skyrocketing property prices are pushing people out of their communities and making homeownership an impossible dream for many.
I am committed to practical solutions that increase affordable housing supply, strengthen renters' rights, and ensure fair policies that give everyone a chance to secure a stable home.
HELP SHAPE MY PLAN
I’m committed to shaping policies that are rooted in respect, inclusivity, integrity, and positivity. My approach is driven by evidence-based, scientific, and sociological advice, ensuring that every decision reflects the real needs of our communities.
I’ll actively engage with all sectors to listen, learn, and address concerns, with a focus on lowering the cost of living, tackling the housing crisis, and upholding political integrity. Above all, I support an open, transparent, and accountable government that works for everyone. Let me know what is important to you.
