Transition to Renewable Energy
  • Meet and exceed the Federal Government’s 82% renewable electricity target by 2030.

  • Empower communities—particularly in regional and rural areas—to participate in and benefit from renewable energy projects. The Clean Energy Council stresses the importance of community involvement in renewable project planning and delivery.

  • Support investment in grid readiness and transmission infrastructure. The Clean Energy Council highlights this as essential to handle increased renewable input and ensure reliability.

  • Back renewables with pumped hydro and battery storage to deliver a stable, secure supply. This is recommended by the Australian Energy Council.

  • Exclude gas from the Capacity Investment Scheme. to ensure the scheme supports clean energy only. The Clean Energy Council supports excluding gas to speed up clean energy investment.

  • Invest in workforce development—including skills, training, and diversity—to grow a strong, future-ready clean energy sector.

No to Nuclear

Nuclear is simply a distraction, and is not a credible alternative in the Australian context. It's too expensive, too unproven, too illegal, too late, too slow and its too risky.

  • Oppose the development of a nuclear energy industry in Australia.

  • The proposed technology of small modular reactors (SMRs) are not commercially available, their costings are unrealistic, and the timeline for deployment by 2036 is not credible.

  • Nuclear waste remains radioactive for hundreds of thousands of years and would require vast investment for safe storage.

  • Renewables and storage are cheaper, faster, safer, and available now.

The clean energy future isn’t a theory—it’s happening now. Kath’s plan backs proven technologies, proven economics, and a fair path forward for workers and communities as an urgent priority.

We have an abundance of renewable, clean energy available for us to capture, store and transmit across Australia. We can be a renewable powerhouse, not just for taking meaningful climate action, but for the incredible economic opportunities it provides. My plan is rooted in the science and the science is clear - renewable energy is the path forward. We've lost too much time already.
